Scott Smith - Field Surveyor
Scott has been an active member of the Raptor Study Group since 1994. He holds an SNH Disturbance license for golden eagle, hen harrier, peregrine falcon, merlin, goshawk, red kite, osprey, red and black-throated divers, and has extensive experience monitoring and nest locating all of these named species.
Scott works annually with the RSG fitting transmitters and BTO rings to golden eagles and peregrine falcons. He has also worked for SNH on all designated SPA ground on SW Scotland monitoring hen harriers and all other moorland bird species. He has experience of black grouse & capercaillie monitoring surveys to find leks, then observe birds from safe distance without disturbance, winter monitoring of flight & dispersal of geese & waders, and has conducted red grouse counts using pointer dogs on heather moorland.
